Although people are remaining home while practicing social distancing, businesses have opportunities to show their communities that they are still working to serve them. Keeping your brand on everyone’s mind and remaining connected with your clients or potential clients is important, even throughout a pandemic. When this difficult time is over, you for their needs!

Bryant Consultants has some suggestions to help your business remain visible and social during the COVID-19 shutdown. We recommend doing some, or all, of the following community involvement services. Or if you have your own variations of these ideas, try mixing it up!

Here are some things we recommend your team implement during this trying time:

Generate Social Media Content

There is one thing that we can be sure about during this social distancing period is that people will be on their phones and computers, a lot, especially on social media! This is a big opportunity for you to increase custom content on your social media platforms. This can include pictures, and videos showing services you perform, the products you offer or how your business is disinfecting your office to keep anyone who enters safe and healthy. This is a sure way to show people that you are still up and running and ready to serve. Don’t just focus on the now, though. Go ahead and get some videos or photographs captured that can be used for future social media posts – while you have time.

Elder Care

Since this particular illness affects the elderly the most, everyone in the community needs to help them out. Reaching out to your elderly customers will be greatly appreciated and needed. We recommend calling or video chatting with them so that they know you care. You can even bring them lunch or help them by running an errand for them so that they do not have to leave their house. This is a difficult time. Going out of your way and doing things for customers may not be financially aiding to the business right now, but they produce long-term intangible benefits. When you serve the community, the community will show appreciation!

Shop Local

Every person and every business will be impacted by this difficult time. When you have the opportunity to spend money by patronizing local businesses. Let them see you shopping with them by driving up in your company’s vehicle or wearing your company’s logo. They won’t forget that. So, if you need to eat out, patronize a local restaurant instead of a national chain – drive-thru or take out! If you need parts for equipment, go to a local hardware store. You can also get your vehicle serviced, have your business professionally landscaped/maintained, or have your business disinfected by hiring local businesses to take care of the job for you. Shopping local is another way to bring the community you serve together.

Offer Services Above and Beyond the Norm

With fewer people going out or traveling, your business will have to offer more than what you normally do. Go above and beyond. Be one of the good impressions during a hard or stressful time. You may want to add a pick-up or drop-off service. Make sure the customers know that they can pay remotely by calling or going on your website. Limiting travel and interactions will relieve some of the stress from customers. Go beyond what you usually do helps not just the customer’s needs but impacts their impression of you, your team, and your business!

The country is going through a stressful time. Social distancing is hard on everyone ranging from customers to employees to business owners. Working together and showing your customers that you are still there for them and willing to go above and beyond for them fosters loyalty and a strong sense of community. As a business owner/operator, small, medium, or large, you are community leaders. These communities need you. Implementing these examples, or examples of your own will help not just your customer, but also you and your business in the long run. Bryant Consultants recommends you take these extra steps as soon as possible.
