Samaritan’s Purse is nondenominational and is an evangelical Christian organization that provides aid, both spiritual and physical, to hurting people around the world. For more than 40 years, Samaritan’s Purse has helped people who have suffered from war, natural disasters, famine, or disease, while also sharing God’s word and his love, which comes only through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The mission of the Samaritan’s Purse was established to not only highlight the main goal of the organization, but also to remind us what God instructs us to do as Christians. Luke chapter 10 tells us a story of a Good Samaritan, who while traveling, came across a man who had been robbed, beaten, and left to die. The Good Samaritan stopped to help the man and provided him aid during his time of need. You see, the interesting point to this story is the Good Samaritan and the hurting man didn’t know each other, nor did the Good Samaritan expect anything in return for offering his aid. This is the thought process the Samaritan’s Purse takes when offering aid to hurting people around the world.[/text_output][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][image type=”none” float=”none” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” src=”2996″ alt=”bryant consultants operation christmas child”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row no_margin=”true” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” border=”none”][vc_column width=”1/1″][text_output]This time of year the Samaritan’s Purse is most often remembered for Operation Christmas Child, a program that not only inspires adults, but teaches children around the world about God’s love by providing them with a small shoebox filled with toys and other gifts. Less fortunate kids of all ages will receive these boxes as Christmas gifts. There is a national collection week every year in which people around the world collect safe and fun toys, hygiene items, socks, etc, for children of all ages.
These shoeboxes will reach across more than 100 countries. The shoebox isn’t just about handing out a box of toys to less fortunate children, but it’s about continuing what God has commanded us to do, which is to go and make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:18-20). When children receive a shoebox they are invited to a local church to gain a deeper understanding of God’s love and what it means to have a relationship with him through Jesus Christ. This begins what is known as The Greatest Journey, a 12 lesson Bible study, taught by believers and trained teachers. Since 2009, millions of children across the world have learned about Jesus Christ through the Greatest Journey. So many children’s lives are touched by this simple act of kindness, plus it gives them all an opportunity to experience God’s love through the generosity and compassion of strangers.
We hope this inspires you to want to be a part of this amazing outreach project or even another charitable organization through the gift of giving of your time or other resources. Although the designated collection week for Operation Christmas Child has ended, it’s not too late to build a shoebox through the Samaritan’s Purse or make a small donation towards this project by visiting https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline/ .[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row]
