You’re back at it with your practice operating again, although things still might not feel “normal,” like before the pandemic. But, your team is with you, patients are flowing through the schedule again, and your practice is pressing forward. But, when was the last time you did a temperature check (figuratively) on your staff? Are they happy, or have they lost touch? Now more than ever, team building is an essential part of holding your practice together after a pandemic. Bryant Consultants wants to share some ways that you can rejuvenate your team and show them some appreciation.
In-Office Games
If your cash flow is in a pinch, you still can have some in-office fun with a few different games that involve all of your team members. Supplies are cheap, and you’d be surprised how much fun everyone will have. Maybe you plan a game of Bingo, or bring in some video games to play. Choose an activity based on your team, you know them better than anybody! The idea is to get your team to work together and have some fun.
Spa Day
Most women wouldn’t say no to a spa day or a massage. You could consider taking the team out for mani/pedis, or book massages for everyone. This gives the team a chance to relax, feel pampered, and appreciated. Plus, everyone can catch up with each other and put work aside for an hour or so. As the dentist, even if you’re a man, join the ladies during this venture. They might even get a kick out of it, but you can skip the nail polish if you want!
Catered Lunch
Everyone enjoys a good meal, especially when it’s free! Consider catering lunch or breakfast for your team. You may already know some of your team’s favorite places. If not, just ask or surprise them. Insist that everyone takes lunch at the same time. Turn the phones over to voicemail, lock the front doors, no work is allowed during this time!
Community Involvement
These days, community involvement may look a lot different than it did before COVID, considering social distancing and all. But, that doesn’t mean you still can’t serve your community, as a team, either from your office or at a distance. Do you know if anyone in your office is passionate about a particular non-profit organization? Maybe it’s helping the homeless, repainting a classroom to prepare for the fall semester, or cleaning out some flower beds and doing some landscaping for a sweet elderly patient. Figure out what will work for your team, and plan a way to give back to the community while doing so safely.
Tips for incorporating team-building activities in your schedule
We know you’re busy, but spending time with your team post-COVID is important. Go ahead and block off adequate time to set aside for a team-building activity. Inform everyone about the outing or event that is planed so that they can know ahead of time whether they need to bring a change of clothes, or skip packing a lunch that day. Let them know the reason you’ve planned the team-building exercise, and how much you appreciate what they contribute to the practice. They’ve been through a lot, as have you over the past couple of months, but reiterating your appreciation will go a long way. Have fun!
These are merely suggestions that you can use to have some fun with your team, show them some appreciation, and help them feel “normal” again (whatever that word even means these days)! Remember, we’re all in this together, and that will never change. Remember that your team has stuck by your side since the beginning of this craziness, and it’s time to give back to your second family.
