Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware that social media is more than just popular. It touches practically every corner of the world. As a business, this means that your reach is limitless! While it’s likely that you already have social media accounts for your business, are you using them right? Social media isn’t just about obligatory daily posts, but instead, posting with intention. Not sure where to start? Today on the blog, our social media managers share five essential reminders for sharing the social media love this Christmas!
‘Tis the season for giving! This time of year, you may receive many gifts from associates, affiliates, or other business partners. This is the perfect opportunity to share with your followers about the thoughtful and kind gifts that you’ve received and do so in a way that spotlights the gift giver. Here’s how!
Take Pictures to Share
Start by taking pictures of the gifts that your company receives and share those photos on your social media outlets. This not only is a visual representation of what the gift-giving season really means, but it also gives your followers a peek of what it’s like inside your office when you’re not trying to sell something to them or talk shop. Remember to include employees and brand ambassadors with the gifts received, in your photos.
Show Some Appreciation
Share a thoughtful message in your post. When it comes to sharing photos on social media, just putting one out there isn’t effective. The old saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Whoever came up with that saying wasn’t around when social media took over! When posting photos to social media, especially when spotlighting a gift you’ve received, let your audience know what they’re looking at and why it’s important to you. It’s also worth mentioning the professional relationship you have with the gift giver.
Remember to Tag
You’ve come this far, so don’t stop now! Adding tags to your photos provides several benefits to your post. Tagging is like giving a “shout out” to someone, or in this case, the business that sent your gift. If they also have a business page, be sure to add their business page name to your post. By tagging the other business, your post reaches beyond just your own followers and will be seen by the followers of that business too. This means that your post will reach hundreds, if not thousands more. Remember also to tag your team members and any ambassadors associated with the gift too. For instance, if the gift given to you was from a local bakery, tag that business too!
Add the Best Hashtags
What’s a hashtag? It’s different than tagging a business. Hashtags add even more reach to your post. You’ve probably seen them at the bottom of a picture on social media, especially on Twitter or Instagram, where hashtags are most effective. It’s best not to inundate your followers by adding too many hashtags. Less is more! A good rule of thumb is to stick to a handful of hashtags for each post. The purpose of hashtags is to broaden your reach to people who may not actually follow your business pages. For instance, if you head on over to your Instagram app and type in #tistheseason, you’ll have access to all public posts with that hashtag. So, when someone is looking for #corporategifteideas, they could potentially see your post. But there’s a catch! Using general or too popular of a hashtag will mean that your post gets lost in thousands or tens of thousands of posts. So it’s recommended to use specific hashtags and nothing too broad.
Share, share, share!
Now it’s time to spread the word! One of the last steps in creating the most effective social media post is to share your post on your personal page and ask your team members to do the same. Each time the message is shared, it can be seen by even more people. If you follow associates or other business partners on social media, share their posts too. It’s like a free marketing boost for their business.
Why These Steps Matter
The photos that you publish on your social media business pages can be one of the most effective ways to grow your business, attract more customers, and broaden your brand awareness. It also shows the utmost thoughtfulness to your professional partners who gave you the gift and your customers that care so much about you! Businesses spend a significant amount of money on referrals and marketing, and while these efforts may provide some return, social media is free to use! Just think of all of the people you can reach just by sharing a thoughtful, effective post on social media.
